Summary: Initially I had reservations about the location of this hotel as it seemed a bit of a way from the main town, however it is an easy and enjoyable walk to the town along a quiet and picturesque road above the hotel. It's also a quick and cheap taxi ride. All in all I was very happy with the location as it meant I saw views I might not otherwise have seen. The hotel itself was excellent. Everyone I met was very friendly, particularly the reception desk and restaurant staff. My room was clean, comfortable, plenty of hot water, good WiFi and had superb views of the valley and the town. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Even though they didn't always have every dish listed on the menu the waiters were able to suggest alternatives, and I had some excellent meals. I would certainly stay here again if I return to Shimla.
