Positive: We loved the privacy of our room (with a private pool); we didn’t notice any other guests while we were there. The entire property is also very lush and green, and from the terrace where breakfast is served, you have a wonderful view of the national park. What is also great: The staff prepares the bed and the room for the night while you’re having dinner.

Negative: Overall, the lodge is a bit dated and the overall atmosphere feels quite "old school." We found the food rather average. In terms of value for money, we stayed at significantly better hotels on our South Africa trip - but of course, this one has an exceptionally exclusive location, which is probably why it can get away with those prices. Another aspect we unfortunately found a bit uncomfortable: we had the impression that some of the staff didn’t feel entirely at ease in the presence of the owners, who came across as very controlling.
