Discover the heart of the idyllic Swedish lake district. Built in 1910, the villa once housed 7 families of charcoal makers for the Hyttan (foundry), hence its name, "Kolakasern" - "charcoal barracks".
There are 3 flats in the house: Upstairs, Downstairs and Studio. In summer; swim in the lake, dine on the sun deck, go boating, cycling, fishing, foraging and hiking. In Winter, ski at Säfsen or Romme Alpin ski/ biking resorts - 30 and 45 mins away respectively. There is a new 20sq m balcony overlooking the lake. It lies on a well maintained but quiet road making it easily winter accessible for the local ski centres.
Host Roy lives in London. He and his wife are not usually present but are constantly available on the phone/email. Our friendly neighbours are present and willing to help out if there are any problems. Roy and his four children have been vacationing in the area since 2000 and in this particular house since 2009. If you enjoy fresh air, nature, wild water swimming and winter sports as we do, Kolkasern is the perfect place. We have introduced over 80 friends and relatives from Ireland and the UK to this part of Sweden and we hope all our paying guests have as good a time as they have had.
